Honouring Service & Celebrating History; VE Day at Signature Apartments

At Amica Care, we pride ourselves on fostering a strong, connected community – one that values history, service and remembrance. At Signature Apartments, this years VE Day celebration was particularly special, as we had the privilege of honouring Jack Edmonds, a retired Royal Marine, alongside his son, Roy, who also served in the military.

Jack and Roy’s incredible dedication and service are nothing short of inspiring, and seeing the pair dressed in their official military uniforms for the occasion was a truly remarkable sight. The decorated medals proudly on display, serve as a testament to their bravery, and were gleaming as they posed for a triumphant photo with one another. For the both of them and all of us throughout our wonderful community at Amica Care, VE Day holds immense significance, giving us a chance to honour, remember and the celebrate the courage shown during such a difficult period of our history.

A special lunch was organised in Dorchester, a gathering dedicated to those who have served their country, where stories of sacrifice, perseverance and unity were shared over a beautifully prepared meal. This event serves as a poignant reminder of the everlasting impact of VE Day, and the power of bringing individuals and communities together, sharing a deep appreciation for our past.

From all of us at Amica Care, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Jack and Roy, not just for their unwavering service, but for their uplifting presence and the inspiration they continue to provide. Their commitment is a fantastic reminder of the importance of honouring the past and ensuring the legacy of those who fought for freedom is never forgotten. Here's to celebrating history, courage, and the incredible people among us like Jack and Roy who have shaped our world for the better. We already can’t wait for the next VE Day!
