Celebrating Our People at the Amica Care Staff Awards 2026

Around 50 colleagues from across Amica Care came together at Taunton Racecourse on Tuesday 22 September for our Staff Awards 2026, celebrating the people whose dedication, kindness and commitment make a difference every day.

The annual event provided an opportunity to recognise colleagues from across our homes and Support Office, while also celebrating the values that sit at the heart of Amica Care.

Throughout the afternoon, colleagues heard inspiring stories of compassion, teamwork, leadership and excellence. Every winner had been nominated because someone had taken the time to recognise the positive impact they make on residents, families, colleagues and communities.

This year's winners included:

  • Team Player of the Year – James Godonu
  • Values Champion of the Year – Tereza Hussain Mekotova
  • Care Hero – Soniya Chacko
  • Leader of the Year – Nelson Ferreira
  • Newcomer of the Year – Heidi Bennett
  • Nurse of the Year – Vion Mwinyi
  • Hospitality Excellence Award – Elly Wilkins
  • Activities & Community Award – Michelle Jones
  • Support Office Appreciation Award – Ruth O'Dea
  • Support Office Newcomer of the Year – Chantal Kirkland
  • Special Recognition Award – Francesca Peacock

The event also celebrated colleagues who achieved recognition beyond Amica Care, including national award finalists and recipients of industry accolades, showcasing the exceptional talent that exists across the organisation.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the presentation of the Home of the Year Award to Signature House Nursing Home, recognising the collective efforts of colleagues who consistently demonstrate excellence in care, resident experience and teamwork.

Keren Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer, said:

"Our Staff Awards are one of the highlights of the year because they give us the chance to recognise the incredible people who make Amica Care such a special organisation. Every nomination tells a story of kindness, compassion, commitment and teamwork. Whether supporting residents, helping families, creating memorable experiences or supporting colleagues, our winners represent the very best of Amica Care. I would like to congratulate every winner, finalist and nominee. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you."

While the awards recognised individual achievements, the day was also a celebration of every colleague across Amica Care who contributes to making our homes welcoming, supportive and caring places for residents to live.
