St John's Court celebrates 'Good' CQC rating
St John’s Court Nursing Home on St John Street in Bromsgrove passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Good’ rating after being praised for operating a safe, responsive, caring and effective service.
The CQC inspected the home on 20th and 26th September 2022 and rated the home, run by Amica Care Trust, as ‘Good’ in four areas of the inspection – safe, responsive, caring and effective. The report stated that residents at the home received good care and that their relatives felt the staff at St John’s Court cared for their family members in a caring and supportive way. Staff treated residents as individuals and respected the choices they made.
The report found that residents are well treated and supported. A resident said: "I find everyone here is very friendly and very helpful. Staff always wave and shout hello when they pass my room." Another person said, "The staff are all good. All very friendly." Family member also felt that the staff were kind and caring and one relative commented: "The staff are all lovely. All caring and smiling."
Also highlighted in the report was that residents were supported to maintain contact with people who were important to them and engaged in activities that were individualised to them. Residents were supported to develop and maintain their hobbies and interests. Residents expressed how they were supported to be engaged in activities held within the home. One resident said, "I like going down to the activities. I like socialising so the activities are very good. I like painting." Another resident spoke highly of the activities team and said, "[They do] so many things. They are a godsend and do everything to make it work. They are so good." The report added that residents were supported to go out, such as going to the shops or visiting local attractions, which they enjoyed.
