St John’s Court Nursing Home is an impressive Victorian Grade II listed building overlooking the restful town of Bromsgrove. At one time the vicarage to St John’s Church, the property itself has a rich and storied history. Having first been transformed into council offices, it evolved into a care home during the 1900s.
Today it plays host to 40 residents. When faced with the difficult decision of placing a loved one into care, it helps to know their new surroundings are both homely and conducive to assisted living. St John’s Court certainly fits that bill, forming part of Amica Care’s wider commitment to supporting families through the onset of dementia.
Staff at St John’s Court specialise in providing nursing and personal care to those suffering from the effects of a stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Alzheimer’s and varying types of dementia.
Their efforts are aided in no small part by high quality living conditions, an environment designed to put residents at ease. Housing no fewer than 40 bedrooms, St John’s Court also boasts en suite facilities, two separate lounges, a communal dining room, conservatory and spacious garden.
The aforementioned facilities go some way towards creating a spirit of community with interaction encouraged through the likes of communal activities.
To further aid the transition, family and friends are welcome at any time, often bringing personal belongings and mementos to adorn residents’ rooms to them make a home-from-home.
Elsewhere, there is a wide and varied range of events. Some of these take the form of away-days and trips into the community, allowing residents to savour some of Bromsgrove’s best-loved attractions.
Bromsgrove is a tight-knit, tranquil community in the heart of the West Midlands; a proud market town that is home to around 29,000 people.
Parks and museums complement a centre that is teeming with shops and eateries, all of which are within a stone’s throw of St John’s Court itself.
The Amica home is well known within the area, having built a relationship with the nearby Bromsgrove School. Students are encouraged to visit residents and even partake in activities themselves, sharing in the fun.
