Mental Health First Aiders complete training to support our colleagues

Our new dedicated Mental Health First Aiders are here to help Amica Care colleagues deal with whatever challenges lie ahead.

Eleven volunteers from our four homes and support office have just completed their L3 training course to give them the skills they need to support their own and others’ well-being.

The qualified Mental Health First Aiders have been trained to notice signs of mental ill health and to gain an in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing.

The team have now been awarded their MHFA qualification and are ready to help whenever they are needed. They have been taught how to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues and to listen in a non-judgemental way. The course have given our MHFA the confidence to step in, reassure and support when a colleague is in distress.

With this latest scheme, plus the Employee Assistance Programmes available to all Amica Care staff, our employees can feel fully supported. By maintaining a healthy workplace, we can continue to provide the best possible care to our residents.
