Amica Care's 2021 garden competition winners announced - Copy

This year Amica Care Trust’s annual Gardening Competition saw a number of outstanding creations submitted from across our care homes and independent living sites.
It has been a fantastic year for entries, and the judges thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many gardening projects. All our homes and independent living sites were given the theme of ‘Freedom’ for this 2021 edition.

The judges for this year’s competition were Keren Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer and John Whittaker, chair of Trustees.

The winners of the Amica Care Trust’s 2021 Gardening Competition are:

Care Home Category: Signature House Nursing Home for their swinging 60’s interpretation of ‘Freedom’

Independent Living Category: Housman Park for their truly spectacular gardens

This year’s competition has been even more significant in bringing joy and excitement to our residents and colleagues, during what has been a difficult time for everyone due to the ongoing pandemic.

Keren Wilkinson, CEO of Amica Care Trust, said:

“Each year it gets tougher to judge the hard work and creativity that our homes and independent living sites all put into making their gardens such enjoyable spaces and the amazing involvement from the residents and staff. The scores were so close, it has been a very difficult decision to make.

The important thing to remember is the enjoyment that everyone gets from this and the strong links with the local community, which has been clearly evident this year”
